Payment & Merchant of Record
Understanding Payments and Merchant of Record
It's important to understand how payments work on Beffer and who is responsible for what.
Merchant of Record (MoR)
The supplier you choose is the Merchant of Record for your transaction. This means:
- Your contract, invoice, and warranty are directly with the supplier
- The supplier is responsible for product quality and delivery
- For disputes, refunds, or warranty claims, contact the supplier directly
- Beffer organises the quote workflow but does not ordinarily receive or distribute the transaction payment
How Payments Work
Most suppliers invoice customers directly. A managed-payment route is used only when it has been specifically agreed for the case and supplier:
- You choose a supplier and accept their quote
- The supplier confirms its invoice and payment terms
- You pay the supplier using the agreed route
- If a managed-payment route is offered, Beffer explains the provider, fund flow, fees and responsibilities before activation
- Beffer never claims that funds are held, released or protected unless that exact facility is active for your transaction
Payment Phases
Depending on the project, payments may be structured as:
- Full Upfront: 100% payment before work begins
- Deposit + Balance: Initial deposit, remainder on completion
- Milestone Payments: Staged payments throughout the project
Platform Fees
Complete Founder includes Quote Desk and Discovery: £295/month for 12 paid months, then £495/month, or £2,950 upfront for 12 months, then £4,950/year. Explicit paid choice; no setup fee or Beffer order commission. 14-day no-card trial with up to 10 distinct enquiries. No automatic paid conversion.
Existing customers retain their agreed contracts. Separately charged usage, managed services or payment-provider fees must be disclosed and agreed before activation, including:
- The service and volume included
- Any overage or managed-operation charge
- Whether Beffer or the supplier handles payment
- The applicable support, recovery and cancellation terms
Your Protection
When an approved managed-payment route is active, the applicable agreement explains:
- The regulated payment provider and security controls
- Who owns refund and dispute decisions
- The case, quote and payment audit trail
- All fees and commercial terms before payment
